LANA MAY - Jewelry Designer
This Artistic soul is both Artist and business woman. She holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a second degree in clothing and accessory design. She eventually went on to start and own her own clothing label and its during this time that she began designing jewelry to wear with her evening wear in Uzbekistan. Her brand Lana May Jewelry is globally recognized and this Artisan's work spans the globe from the USA to Germany. Her bead work is so unique and exquisite that it has been displayed at Museums and Fashion Weeks around the world. As though designing these fabulous pieces was not enough, Lana Somehow finds the time to also write. This Artisan is also an Author and wrote the book "Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques." I got the chance to tour this Designer's studio last week and walking into the space was literally a Euphoric experience. Her jewelry are like Art Pieces, each one beautifully hand made and each one telling a story of the journey of its beads and the significance of the design. I am literally making a mental list of all of the necklaces and bracelets and earrings that I want and vow to come back in a month to pick up a few pieces in celebration of my December Birthday. Okay, I can't lie, I did not walk out empty handed and purchased (2) fabulous leopard/gold cuffs that are to die for. What can I say...I SUPPORT LOCAL!
This Holiday Season, try to skip the big box retailers and support local Artisans such as Lana. We are all in this together and want to see Fashion grow right here in Arizona. For more pics of the amazing collections and pieces, visit Lana's site at http://lana-bead.info. But honestly, the best thing to do is to reach out to her in person and visit her studio to find the perfect piece to match your personality.
